Launch and Origin
On the suggestion of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Prime Point Foundation launched its first edition of the digital-only monthly eMagazine PR-e-Sense for positive journalism. The eMagazine was launched online on 6th March 2006 by Dr Y S Rajan, a close associate of Dr Abdul Kalam who co-authored the book India 2020 with Dr Kalam.
Those were the nascent days of the digital magazine concept. Even the few digital magazines published at that time could not survive beyond 3 to 4 months. PreSense withstood all challenges and has published 230+ editions uninterruptedly. From the 61st edition, the name changed from PR-e-Sense to PreSense and the tagline evolved from “Communicate the Communication” to “Spreading Positive Vibrations”.
Global Recognition
PreSense became the first eMagazine in the world to serve as a Digital Media Partner for international PR conferences — including the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in London, UK and the Public Relations Society of America in Detroit, USA, both in 2008. PreSense subsequently served as Digital Media Partner for international conferences in South Africa, Singapore, and other countries.
In April 2010, The Wall Street Journal reproduced one of the PreSense Prince cartoons with the Editor's permission, further attesting to the eMagazine's global reach.
PreSense has won awards from the Global Forum for Public Relations, the Public Relations Council of India, and the Association of Business Communicators of India. It is recognised by the India Book of Records.
The Prince Cartoon Character
On the suggestion of Dr Abdul Kalam, PreSense introduced the cartoon character Prince from its July 2008 edition, created by noted cartoonist Triambak Sharma (Editor, CartoonWatch, Raipur). Prince was launched by Dr Abdul Kalam himself at Raj Bhavan, Chennai on 24th July 2008. Inspired by R K Laxman's Common Man, Prince represents the aspirations of Indian youth. Dr Abdul Kalam himself cited Prince in his public address at the Cartoon Festival, New Delhi in April 2011. The 100th Prince Cartoon was launched by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in 2016.
